Chase Morrin, from San Diego,
has been creating bands since elementary school. After 9th grade in high
school, Chase started his trio and began to invite special guests to play
with his groups for various gigs. Chase met Fernando Gomez, drummer
extraordinaire,
via Myspace and they started to jam and gig together. Chase and Fernando
attended the 2009 UC San Diego Jazz Camp where they met Tyler Eaton,
bassist extraordinaire. Since then they formed a trio. During the
summer of 2010 Chase met Josh Shpak, most talented trumpeter, at the
Berklee College of Music's Jazz Workshop and then again at the Vail Jazz
Festival Workshop and Labor Day Jazz Festival. The very first time
the Quartet ever played together was to record an audition for Josh, which
resulted in Josh making it into the 2011 Grammy Jazz Ensemble. Chase and
Josh are seniors in high school; Chase at Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego
and Josh at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek. Chase and Josh
will be moving to the Boston area this fall where Chase will study at
Harvard and the New England Conservatory and Josh at the Berklee College
of Music. Tyler is at UCSD, studying bass performance with Mark Dresser
and Fernando is at Southwestern College
in south San Diego. The Quartet has created their own
brand of music, sync together as a group and enjoy meeting up to play. The
band strives for originality, creativity and passion in their music.
